Teachers, DJ’s & Music

This is a collaborative event, so that means that you’ll be co-creating the workshop options right along with us. We'll include open offerings time where the community has a chance to say what they’d like to learn and you can share your gifts and skills with the group. If there's something you'd like to share with the group, please come with supplies or whatever you need to share your gifts. It doesn't have to be dance-related!

I've taken private lessons and classes from quite a few teachers, and I learned more from Ari about connection and partner dancing in one hour at the Bistro than I did in a hundred hours with the studios...

Christina Gonzalez

Latin Fusion

Christina has danced Salsa basically since she could walk. With a partner or on her own, if the music was playing, she had to move. In college she discovered blues, started taking classes, and that opened the door to the world of partner dancing! An Argentine Tango intensive led her to co-founding a club for Tango where she taught beginner lessons and choreographed a group performance. Nowadays, she has a broad background of dance styles and performs, teaches, and hosts events in Seattle. Dancing for her is all about feeling the music in her body and letting it move her.

Stephen Harvey

Moving with Lifts

I’m Stephen Harvey also known as Wonder. I started learning hip hop at the age 9. I am a self taught improvisational mover for 17 years. I also had the influence of sport to help in my physical capabilities and agility. The four years of wrestling being most prominent. In 2011 I began social dancing and taking technique classes. One class that stands out is a partnering class where we played and explored moving in partnership with another. Now I have been teaching fusion and contact improvisation (CI) for two years.

Dips - Executing complex dips safely on the social dance floor

From Opera Houses to underneath freeways, to beaches, cliffsides, theaters, and abandoned train tunnels, Paco has danced in them all. Bringing a classical sensibility to contemporary dances, he strives to push dancers to experiment and realize the near limitless possibilities of partner dancing. Paco had taught and DJ'd in Seattle, Portland, and Denver, as well as performed for the Seattle Opera, 5th Avenue Theater and various dance companies throughout the Pacific Northwest. He is excited to be spreading his love of Fusion dance into the wilderness of his new home on the Olympic Peninsula!

Immersive Connection / Bypassing Thought

Atoro, born and raised in Northern California, is a passionate and soulful dancer and teacher. Before discovering Zouk while still in its infancy in the US, Atoro was a trained teacher of Latin and Ballroom. After that chance encounter he dedicated himself utterly to the forms of Zouk and after several years of study began teaching in DC. Over his 8-year career as a Zouk teacher he has taught, DJ’d, and performed at Zouk and Latin congresses throughout the US and internationally. He founded and co-founded the Zouk dance tribes in DC and Atlanta respectively - both of which have grown into beautiful and thriving communities of which he is very proud.

Atoro’s personal dance style is a form of NeoZouk centered within deep and honest connection, as well as the present-moment improvisation and breaking of patterns that come from being entirely in the moment. His area of particular expertise is the internal form of lead and follow called Suwai and the corresponding flow-state achieved through silent mind and deep body listening. His teaching emphasizes going beyond the repetition of patterns, to understanding the flow and soul of the movements. He is currently based in Atlanta and teaches with his wonderful partner, Firefly.
